The Drug-Free Youth in Detroit Coalition, an initiative of the Black Caucus Foundation of Michigan, is committed to preventing youth use of alcohol, tobacco, and other substances through education, awareness, and community engagement.
The coalition unites a broad network of community stakeholders, including youth, parents, businesses, media, schools, youth-serving organizations, law enforcement, healthcare professionals, faith-based groups, civic and volunteer organizations, government agencies, substance use prevention and treatment providers, and dedicated community members. Together, these partners work to create safer, healthier environments for Detroit’s young people.
We actively welcome individuals and organizations who are passionate about strengthening prevention efforts citywide. Members collaborate to raise awareness, share resources, implement evidence-based strategies, and promote positive youth development.
The Advisory Board meets virtually on the third Wednesday of each month to provide guidance, share expertise, and support initiatives focused on reducing youth substance use and encouraging healthy, drug-free lifestyles. By working together, we can empower Detroit’s youth to make positive choices and build a stronger, healthier, and drug-free future for our community.
The Black Caucus Foundation of Michigan (BCFM) is a non-partisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to research-driven public policy, leadership development, and community initiatives that improve quality of life for underserved and vulnerable populations across Michigan.
